WARNING: Inventory-platform replacement can recreate shadow planning if parameters remain unowned

The move from spreadsheets and basic ERP toward specialist Inventory Planning systems creates a migration risk. Companies may transfer formulas and settings without establishing ownership for service levels, safety stock, lead times, segmentation and override rules.

A new platform does not eliminate shadow logic if the organization cannot identify who owns each planning parameter and which version is authoritative.

What leaders should monitor

• parameter owners and effective dates;
• differences between spreadsheet and system logic;
• manual overrides and local workarounds;
• version control during migration;
• ERP and APS integration boundaries.
