Toyota commits $3.6 billion to double its San Antonio manufacturing campus
Toyota has announced a $3.6 billion expansion of its San Antonio manufacturing campus, adding a second assembly line and shifting part of Tacoma production from Mexico to Texas. The project is expected to double the site’s physical footprint and materially increase vehicle capacity.

The affected decision is how Toyota rebalances product allocation, supplier capacity and logistics flows across an integrated North American manufacturing network. Value requires Texas assembly capacity, Mexican component flows, supplier tooling and labour ramp-up to remain synchronised. The failure mode is treating final assembly localisation as a standalone move while upstream suppliers and cross-border logistics remain configured for the previous network.
