MIT and Mecalux develop GENESIS for multi-warehouse inventory decisions
The GENESIS simulator developed by MIT CTL and Mecalux evaluates alternative inventory allocation and replenishment policies across warehouse networks. It considers forecast demand, transportation costs and warehouse capacities to support decisions about inventory positioning.
The Dataleo angle
GENESIS addresses a decision problem extending beyond warehouse management: where inventory should sit in the network and when it should be replenished. The value depends on realistic demand uncertainty, service constraints and replenishment economics. A scenario engine cannot compensate for an incorrect objective function.
