Kodiact launches AI-native simulation platform for direct-materials decisions
Kodiact has launched an AI-native platform designed to simulate direct-materials decisions before procurement teams act. The product combines a canonical material and cost model, a decision ledger, agent-assisted workflows and shock simulation across materials, suppliers, demand and energy. Initially targeted at food, beverage and CPG manufacturers, Kodiact says the platform is already in multiple manufacturing pilots. The launch is notable because it moves procurement software beyond historical spend visibility toward explicit modelling of sourcing, cost and supply-risk decisions.
The Dataleo angle
The interesting part of Kodiact is not the AI label; it is the attempt to turn direct-materials procurement into a simulation problem. Decisions such as when to contract, how much exposure to leave open or how a commodity shock propagates through BOMs and margin are inherently forward-looking. A decision platform can therefore add value where ERP and spend analytics stop. The constraint is model fidelity: simulation only improves the decision if cost-driver relationships, supplier positions, demand assumptions and material dependencies are accurate enough to represent the real exposure. Otherwise, faster simulation simply industrializes a wrong model.
