Parcel capacity can be a software-architecture constraint rather than a building constraint

QAD reports a parcel-execution case in which improved software and operating coordination allowed a customer to defer a planned $30 million warehouse expansion.

The lesson is that apparent capacity shortages can originate in physical space, process design or information flow. Capital planning should identify which constraint is actually limiting throughput before approving additional buildings or automation.

The principal failure mode is treating queueing, routing or orchestration problems as evidence that more square metres are required.
