Agentic logistics works only when agents can survive operational exceptions
The real test of logistics agents is their behaviour when bookings fail, data is missing or execution diverges from plan.
A July 3 analysis argues that logistics-agent demonstrations often show seamless rerouting, rate negotiation, customs filing and customer communication, while real deployments struggle with fragmented systems, permissions and exception ownership.
The correct test is not whether an agent completes the happy path, but whether it handles missing data, rejected bookings, conflicting instructions and failed execution. Value requires bounded authority, reliable operational state and escalation paths that preserve accountability.
The principal failure mode is an impressive orchestration demonstration that collapses at the first unmanaged exception.
