Supply chain planning in 2026: why AI alone is not enough

BCG argues that planning performance depends on how planners use advanced capabilities to make trade-offs and act, not simply on model sophistication. The useful unit of analysis is the full decision flow: data, model output, business constraints, accountable owner, escalation and execution. Supply chain planning technology should therefore be evaluated against planner adoption and operating outcomes.
