Supply-chain risk AI becomes more useful when signals are linked across the product lifecycle
Angela Rhea's argument is useful because it shifts supply-chain risk analysis away from the individual alert. A late shipment, inspection issue, sourcing change or compliance exception may be weak evidence on its own but more significant when it forms part of a sequence across the same product, supplier or factory.
The decision challenge is architectural: risk systems need common entities and enough lifecycle context to connect events generated by PLM, sourcing, quality, compliance and logistics processes. Without that normalization, AI may produce more alerts without improving the decision about whether to intervene.
