AI and decision engineering can reduce planner heroics

Supply-chain planning commentary increasingly argues that planners should move from manual firefighting toward governed exception management supported by AI and decision engineering. The goal is not to remove planners but to reserve human attention for trade-offs the model cannot resolve. Planner productivity should be measured through exception quality, decision latency, override outcomes and service or inventory impact.
