DataLeo sees demand planning roles shifting toward hybrid business-and-data profiles

Planning expertise increasingly sits alongside SQL, modelling and data-structure skills

A changing planner profile

DataLeo has highlighted a visible shift in Demand Planning roles: employers increasingly expect planners to understand not only forecasting and business processes, but also data structures, SQL, modelling and system logic.

This does not mean every planner must become a software engineer. It does mean that planning teams need stronger interfaces between business ownership, data engineering, model development, platform administration and validation.

Operating-model implication

Organizations should define hybrid roles deliberately rather than allowing technical responsibilities to accumulate informally. Clear boundaries reduce key-person risk and improve governance of planning models and AI-enabled workflows.
