IBM study warns that AI dependency can reduce operational control

IBM published a study on 22 June reporting concerns around AI-system dependency, data residency, sovereignty and the ability of enterprises to change providers or architectures as AI becomes embedded in core operations. In supply-chain planning, dependency risk becomes continuity risk. Organizations need portable data, documented decision logic, exportable audit trails, fallback processes and the ability to operate when a model, provider or region is unavailable. This is a decision governance issue as much as a technology issue.
