Mark Sawaya is a Partner and North America Operations Practice Lead at Porsche Consulting. He advises organizations on operations and supply-chain transformation across industrial, med-tech, aerospace and defense environments.
His public work addresses supply-chain digitization, operational excellence, network optimization and the impact of AI on planning and execution. In the Reuters panel, he identified end-to-end network optimization as a major source of value and questioned whether traditional monthly S&OP cycles remain appropriate as decision latency decreases.
Sawaya’s network-level perspective broadens AI adoption beyond individual forecasts or inventory parameters. End-to-end optimization requires consistent cost, capacity, lead-time, service and constraint data across sourcing, manufacturing and distribution.
Faster decision cycles do not remove the need for governance. Organizations must define which trade-offs can be resolved automatically, how Finance and commercial priorities enter the objective function, and when executives must approve changes affecting customers, plants or suppliers.
