EVENT: How I vibe-coded my Advanced Planning System

Nicolas Vandeput will host a live webinar with Knut Alicke and Alain Matar on building supply-chain applications with AI coding agents.

The session will compare two independently developed applications. Knut Alicke created a synthetic company with bills of materials, suppliers and two years of history, then built an Advanced Planning System within hours. Alain Matar extended the approach to an industrial-scale, planner-facing application with a backend and security controls.

The discussion will examine where vibe coding can accelerate supply-chain work, where it falls short, how custom applications can complement existing APS platforms, and why mathematical validation, professional judgment and human oversight remain necessary.

The Dataleo angle

AI coding agents can reduce the effort required to prototype specialized planning workflows, especially where standard APS capabilities do not fully cover business-specific needs. The operational value depends on whether the application supports a defined decision and uses controlled master data, planning parameters and transaction history.

Before such an application influences forecasts, inventory, sourcing or production decisions, teams should establish ownership of the planning logic, testing procedures, version control, access management, auditability and manual override mechanisms. Planner-facing tools also need validated interfaces with ERP and APS systems, clear failure modes and controls preventing experimental code from becoming an unmanaged system of record.
