REGULATION: Dutch distance-based truck toll takes effect
The Netherlands has introduced a distance-based truck toll for domestic and international vehicles over 3,500 kg on covered roads. The measure changes the cost of both loaded and empty movements and requires transport operators to incorporate vehicle, route and distance attributes into pricing and execution.

Value depends on updating TMS costing and scenarios at lane level. The failure mode is applying a blanket surcharge that conceals which routes, customers and fleet choices are causing the additional cost.
